Biography

Shithi started her musical journey in Kustia at the age of 4, initially carried by her mother. At the age of 5, she was enrolled in the Bangladesh Shishu Academy. Shithi used to sing folk songs till she was 6, and then she started practicing on Tagore songs. She had Mr. Ashok Saha as her teacher in Kustia, and then Late Ohaidul Huq when she moved to Dhaka. However, gradually she mastered a wide variety of musical branches – classical, modern, Tagore and folk are few to name. She was also a member of Shilpakala Academy, Rabindra Sangeet Shommelon Parishad, and Chhayanot.

She has won more than 100 awards throughout her music career, along with 4 National Awards on Rabindra Sangeet. She won her first national award when she was only 15. Out of her 100+ awards, most of them were won in Tagore songs, and the rest were won in folk and other songs. Apart from these, she also participated in the Zee Bangla Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa musical program in 2008, hosted by Kolkata based popular TV channel Zee Bangla.
Description
Shithi released her first album when she was 16. The album, named ‘Kichhu Bolbo Bole’ comprised of all the Tagore songs, was released by Sound Touch. In 2009, she released her 2nd album ‘Kolpona’ under the banner of Laser Vision. This album was a duet album with Kazi Anan and arranged by Kazi Hablu. The album ‘Kolpona’, with 10 unique and fresh songs, gained a very good response among all her fans and listeners. Later, on the success of this album, she was also covered in many newspapers and TV channels in Bangladesh.

Thereafter, Shithi released her first solo album, Golpo Patay, available in all major music stores around the country. The album contains 12 new songs, and gains even higher media attention. She also made her footprint in the playback singing; the movie named 'Projapoti - The Mysterious Bird' has one of her song released with the song title – ‘Taka’. Taka is a duet song with Mr. Ferdous Wahid, and composed by Mr. Habib Wahid.
